Storage is the most common cause of premature doll damage that we see in warranty reviews. Heat, humidity, pressure and sunlight can deform a body or degrade a surface even when the doll is not being used.

This guide explains the storage conditions that protect both silicone and TPE dolls.
1. Temperature
Keep the doll in a cool, stable environment. TPE softens at higher temperatures, and both materials can be affected by prolonged heat. Avoid:
- Direct sunlight through a window.
- Radiators and heating vents.
- Hot cars or unventilated storage rooms.
- Attics and metal sheds with large temperature swings.
Aim for a cool, dry room, ideally below 30°C.
2. Humidity
High humidity can encourage mold and odor, especially in internal areas. Use a dry environment and ensure the doll is completely dry before storage. In very humid climates, a dehumidifier or moisture absorber in the storage area can help.
3. Body position
Store the doll flat or in a supported position. Sitting or folding for long periods can create compression marks and stress the skeleton. If space is limited:
- Use a storage case or stand that supports the torso and hips.
- Rotate the position every few weeks.
- Support the limbs so they are not bearing the body weight.
- Avoid tight straps or compression clothing.
4. Surface protection
Cover the doll with a breathable sheet or a dedicated storage bag. Avoid airtight plastic if there is any moisture, and avoid dark, non-colorfast fabrics that can stain the surface.
- Use light-colored, colorfast material.
- Do not place heavy objects on top.
- Keep sharp edges away from the body.
- Powder TPE lightly before long-term storage.
5. Long-term storage
- Clean and dry completely.
- Powder TPE lightly.
- Place in a supported, flat position.
- Cover with a breathable sheet.
- Store in a cool, dry place.
- Inspect every few weeks.
Factory note: the worst storage damage we see is compression from sitting or folding, followed by heat deformation near a window. Both are preventable with a flat position and a shaded room.
6. Travel and temporary storage
For travel or temporary storage, use a padded case and avoid leaving the doll in a vehicle. If the doll must be stored in a bag, make sure it is dry and the bag does not press the body into a sharp angle.
For cleaning and powdering, see the care guide. For material lifespan, read the TPE guide.
Climate-specific guidance
- Hot and humid: use a dehumidifier, avoid airtight storage and inspect for mold regularly.
- Hot and dry: keep away from sunlight and heat sources; powder TPE more often.
- Cold: avoid storing near external walls or unheated rooms with condensation.
- Coastal: protect the skeleton from humidity and check for corrosion.
Storage furniture and cases
A dedicated case or a flat storage bench is better than a wardrobe shelf that forces the doll into a folded position. If you use a case, make sure it supports the torso and does not compress the chest or hips.
- Flat support along the full body length.
- Soft, colorfast lining.
- Ventilation to avoid trapped moisture.
- No sharp internal edges.
- Easy access for inspection.
Inspection checklist
- Check for compression marks.
- Look for new tears or cracks.
- Check for stickiness or staining.
- Test joint movement gently.
- Confirm the storage area is dry and cool.
- Rotate the position if stored for a long time.
FAQ
Can a sex doll be stored standing up?
Only if the model and skeleton are designed for standing and the feet are supported. Long-term standing can stress the ankles and leave compression marks, so flat storage is generally safer.
What is the ideal storage temperature?
Keep the doll in a cool, dry place, ideally below 30°C and away from direct sunlight. Avoid hot cars, radiators and damp basements.
Should I store a sex doll in a plastic bag?
A breathable cover is usually better than airtight plastic. If you use a bag, make sure the doll is completely dry and the bag is not compressing the body.
